Leaving A Legacy

Around the time that I started this blog, I made it a personal goal to leave an outstanding legacy in this life.

I want to be remembered as a man who loved to be in God’s presence, and serves Him wholeheartedly (because He makes me better and better.) A husband who cared and provided for his wife, who loved her passionately, and didn’t leave his feelings to neglectful assumptions. A Dad that invested quality, and quantity time with his kids doing what they wanted to do, not just involving them in what I am busy with. A friend that you could confide in, that you could laugh and cry with.

But all these goals are only scribbles on a paper if I don’t exercise my willpower and work hard.

“Direction not intention determines my destination.”
Pastor Darryl Harms

Looking at the above list, one would probably think that these are all very noble desires and goals. However, believe it or not it causes me to question my motives.

It makes me wonder if I am I just doing it for the people who will esee me, so I will be remembered as a great man. Or if I am doing it because I know in my heart and soul that Christ has called me to set the bar high in all that I do?

For me , this starts with making the transition from impressionable to influential. I want to be the best I was made to be. I don’t want to be swayed by people’s opinions, simply because they are just that, opinions! I don’t want to change how I act around certain people, I want so much of Christ to be inside of me, that this will be all people see.

I know it won’t all happen at once, and I am grateful we serve a God of many chances and a God of unending wisdom. With His help, I am unstoppable!

What goals have you made for yourself, and what are you doing to complete them for this year, or even this lifetime?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 NKJV)
